Marlborough RFC

19 - 32

(HT 0-24)

Sidmouth RFC
Sidmouth won the toss and decided to play with conditions and with a slope that looked to be worth 20 odd points, plus that Marlborough are well known for the ability to score from anywhere at any time. Sidmouth started really well with a dominant 1st half scoring tries from Tom Hodge, Shaun Malton and Cam Grainger and 1 tricky conversion from Jake Smith. With the push to chase the try bonus point, errors stated to creep into the Sidmouth side but, just before half time Phil Dollman glided through a small gap to secure the try bonus point, Jake Smith added the extras to make the half time score 0-24.

After the restart, Marlborough were definitely up for the challenge, scoring early on through a well worked backs move. Sidmouth's response was instant with Man of the Match Archie Cruze dummying his way down the touchline to score. The home side swung momentum back in their favour scoring 2 tries, making it a tense finish. A Jake Smith penalty eased the pressure for the Chiefs in the closing stages and giving them a bonus point win, lifting them to seventh place in the league going into the new year.
