With both sides sat in mid table and evenly matched, this was going to be a hard fought game. St Austell took the lead mid way through the first half with a penalty for the Sidmouth back line caught of side.

Sidmouth bounced straight back, following a penalty kick to the corner which saw Shaun Malton secure the ball at the back of the line out, the pack drove over for Malton to score. Rory O’Brien was unsuccessful with the conversion.

St Austell retook the lead with a backs move which saw poor Sidmouth defence out wide not deal with effectively and allow the St Austell winger to get the ball down. The try was successfully converted.

Just before half time saw a sharp flat pass from Phil Dollman beat 3 St Austell defenders to put Sam Heathcote away on the wing. Tackled just before the line he offloaded to Rory O’Brien to score. Again the conversation went uncovered by O’Brien.

The second halve was severely disrupted for the away side with 2 yellow cards, one for a late tackle by Tom Hodge and the other for Liam Hilliar who was binned to for a tackle offence. Sidmouth’s defence went missing again out wide and saw the home team score 2 tries from poor Sidmouth defence at the breakdown to finish the game.
