On Monday 27th May we received the sad news of the death of Life Member John Mortimore at the age of 93.

John joined Sidmouth Rugby Club after the war playing for the Colts. After completing his National Service, he returned and soon became a regular 1st Team player in the back row.
He became captain of the Chiefs from 1956 to 1958. He then retired early because, as a self-employed cobbler, he could not afford to get injured. He then joined the committee on which he served until 1981.
John has been a regular face at the Blackmore Field on Saturdays until this year.

SRFC send all our love and our condolences to John’s family and to all who knew him.
